The VarioPress Pro E 25 is a closed pressure filter for garden ponds with a 36 W UVC unit built in. It cleans pond water mechanically and biologically, and the UVC lamp helps to keep free floating algae under control so the water stays clear. A large filter pack is cleaned by an electrically driven cleaning system that starts when you turn the cleaning lever, so there is no need to put your hands in the dirty filter. You supply your own pump.

Cleaning
Regular flushing is very important, because a filter that is too dirty can build up pressure and lead to leaks and damage. Flush the filter briefly at least once a week, more often if the pond is heavily soiled. As a guide, the filter should rinse itself in about 2 minutes and the rinse water should run clean again within that time. If dirty water still comes out of the drain after 2 minutes, flush more often.
Installation tips
Place the filter on a firm, level surface, at least 2 metres from the water's edge
Connect it to a socket protected by a 30 mA RCD, in a dry place at least 2 metres from the water
Keep the filter out of direct sun and make sure there is good airflow around the lid
Never let the filter run dry. Switch on the pump first so water is flowing through the filter
Do not run the filter while people are in the water
Choose a pump that matches the filter, and use pipes and hoses that are wide enough. Too large a pump or too narrow a pipe can cause leaks
Protect the filter from frost and drain it if there is a risk of freezing
A pump is not included.
Filtration advice
Take note that although each filtration system is rated for a specific pond literage, we calculate filtration differently in practice. Size matters, but what matters most is choosing a larger filter than the minimum. A bigger filter means you clean it far less often, and it protects the system itself from damage that comes from running it too close to capacity. For example, on a thirty thousand litre pond we would not recommend a thirty thousand litre filter. We would suggest a larger one, or even two filters together. Otherwise you end up cleaning every week or so. A larger setup gives you a hassle-free system, though of course it depends on your budget. We always tell our customers: bigger is better for easier maintenance and longer filter life.
