Pontederia dilatata, also known as Royal Pickerel Rush, is a vigorous and beautiful pond marginal plant that produces tall spikes of violet-blue flowers throughout the summer months. A close relative of the more common Pontederia cordata, this species is larger and more imposing, with broader leaves and more substantial flower spikes that make a strong statement at the water's edge. Fully mature plants are supplied here, ready to establish immediately in shallow water at a depth of 5 to 20cm. It is a superb choice for providing height and colour at the pond margin while also attracting bees and other pollinators.
